Another one of my silly projects that took way too long to get off the ground. This is a rough list of seiyuu that are generally believed to be, or have themselves acknowledged that they are married. I’ve also included the ones that got divorced. As usual… it’s still a work-in-progress which means it’s very disorganised, I’m sure I’ll figure out a better way to present the information someday… and I’ll probably migrate this post over to the ‘pages’ eventually.

….please don’t expect to find out if Noto Mamiko is married here.


Seiyuu Marriages (Husband x Wife)
Iwata Mitsuo x Aikawa Rikako
-Got married in 1992, but kept hush about it for about 5-6 years. Their first son was born in 2006.
Yusa Koji x Mitsuhashi Kanako
-Tied the knot in 2007, announced by Yusa himself on a radio show.
Ikeda Shuichi x Tamagawa Sakiko
-Ikeda’s first marriage was to actress Toda Keiko (who later married singer Inoue Junichi)
Nojima Kenji x Sawaguchi Chie
-They have two children, a boy and a girl.
Ueda Youji x Nagashima Yuko
-Revealed via a blog post by actor Kirimoto Takuya. Nagashima later announced on her own blog in May 2008 that she had given birth to a baby girl.
Furukawa Toshio x Kakinuma Shino
-19-year age gap (Furukawa born in 1946, Kakinuma in 1965). They first worked together in the late 80s.
Nanba Keiichi x Shou Mayumi
-Nanba was previously married to seiyuu Tsuru Hiromi. He has at least one child with Shou, who was on maternity leave around 1990-91.
Furuya Tohru x Majima Satomi
-Furuya was previously married to minor seiyuu Koyama Mami before they got divorced in 1982. He has a daughter with Majima, who retired from voice acting in 1985 after their marriage.
Madono Mitsuaki x Kobayashi Yuko
-Kobayashi’s second marriage – she has a daughter from her first.

-Married in 1993, announced that they had divorced in 2006.
Okiayu Ryotaro x Nagawasa Nao
-They had a daughter together.
Horiuchi Kenyuu x Matsui Naoko
-Amicably divorced, they still worked together frequently after the end of the marriage. Horiuchi has since remarried and has 2 children.
Shibamoto Hiroyuki x Tanaka Mayumi
-They had one child together.
Mizushima Yu x Sakuma Rei
-Sakuma was awarded custody of their child after the divorce.

-Announced marriage in 1999. Wife is strongly rumoured to be former TV Tokyo announcer Yoshino Aya.
Sakaguchi Daisuke
-Self-declared on a drama CD.
Miki Shinichiro
-Previously announced baby son’s arrival on his website.
Takagi Wataru
-Tied the knot in November 2001.
Inoue Kazuhiko
-Married to actress Ochi Shizuka.
Ito Kentaro
-Has previously talked about his child on radio shows.
Seki Toshihiko
-Married with 2 daughters.
Midorikawa Hikaru
-Got married on 1 January 2000.
Takemoto Eiji
-Announced that he was married on his own website.
Matsukaze Masaya
-Married a girl he’d been seeing for 9 years in February 2004.

Tominaga Miina
-Was married to Yao Kazuki in 1990 but later divorced. Now married to writer/actor Masumoto Shoichiro, with whom she had a daughter in 2002.
Chiba Saeko
-Announced marriage on her 30th birthday in 2007.
Inokuchi Yuka
-Shotgun wedding in December 2008.
Kobayashi Yumiko
-Announced on blog in 2006.
Kimura Akiko
-Official announcement made through agency website.
Asada Yoko
-Married at the turn of the century, has one child.
Kojima Sachiko
-Married to a theatre director in 2008 after 9-year courtship.
Kaida Yuko
-Married to a theatre actor, possibly since late 2007.
Fuchizaki Yuriko
-Shotgun wedding in March 2005, gave birth to twin boys August the same year.
Wakabayashi Naomi
-Married in 2007.
Hirata Hiromi
-Married since 2007, only revealed a year later on her blog.
Sonozaki Mie
-Announced marriage in 2008.
Itou Miki
-Was on hiatus for most of the 90s to bring up her child.
Hayashibara Megumi
-Married with a child.
Ogata Megumi
-Married a man 13 years her junior in 2004 – this is her second marriage.
Kakazu Yumi
-Married a former high-school classmate on 1 June 2004. They have two sons.
Hisakawa Aya
-Got married in 1999.
Hidaka Noriko
-Married to a radio director/agency boss, has children.
Kouda Mariko
-Announced marriage on her radio show in 2003.
Sakurai Tomo
-Married in 1996, gave birth to first child in 2000.
Mitsuishi Kotono
-Married with children.
Inoue Kikuko
-Married in 1996 and became a mother in 1998.
Touma Yumi
-Married to Toei producer Yoshida Tatsuya.
Tanaka Atsuko
-Has previously mentioned having a child.
Nishimura Chinami
-Married in October 2002, gave birth to a baby boy in 2005.
Masuda Yuki
-Presumably married, just announced that she is due to give birth in September 2009.
Miyamura Yuko
-Previously married to mangaka Nakatani D before a speedy divorce. Now hitched to stuntman Seki Takayuki, with whom she has a child.
Mizuta Wasabi
-Married with 2 daughters.
Kawata Taeko
-Married with 2 children.
Yuya Atsuko
-Gave birth to a baby girl in 2007.
Nakagawa Akiko
-Married to composer Wada Kaoru.

-with Aoyama Goshu, aka Conan x Conan mangaka. Married in 2005, divorced in 2007.
Iwao Junko
-Married to music producer Yamamoto Harukichi from 1998-2007.

Information collected from various bbses, sites and wiki. There are obviously a lot more married seiyuu than this, just that nobody bothered to reveal the information because they either didn’t want anyone to know or it wasn’t that important anyway. I’m sure I messed up some info, do point out mistakes.

Oh, and I’m pretty sure Chihara Minori ain’t married. What husband would put up with lost remote controls, frequently burnt toast and broken refrigerators?

  6. Wow, talk about information overload…I didn’t even know most of these seiyuu were married.

    I’m pretty sure Takehito Koyasu is married as well and has 2 children. That’s all I know.

  13. Maybe a guy as airhead-y as Minorin would be able to put up with he- Wait, that seems like a bad idea. But I’d put up with the losing of remote controls and burning toasts if it meant I could jam with Minorin. Just have to try and not puke if it’s that fugly pink paisley telecoustic thing.

    And onto breaking the fridge, I broke mine once somehow. I think I was five when I tried to put my three year old brother into it. I really don’t understand how the fridge could break from something like that and I don’t think Minorin would do that…. Unless the frog-breaking-earthquakes did something funky to her fridge.

    Hmm, I wonder when my Yukarin will get married. Doesn’t her mother ask her that sometimes? And Nana-sama would tell her fans…..

    Does this list kinda show that the western view (that woman’s rights in Japan is horrible) is wrong? since some of the female seiyuu that are married (and some that have children) are still very prominently working? Or is this just the exception that proves the rule?

  16. Ah pretty interesting. I think its kinda sad that seiyuus can’t (or prefer not to) talk about their marriages, since the fans can be pretty extreme at times, why do otakus have to be so extremists :p?

    He had two children from his former wife (a TV announcer): he was apparently so stalked by his fans that she got a neurosis from that, and they divorced. Last year he got remarried to an older woman ( a doctor). That’s what I’ve read.

    Suzuki Chihiro’s also married, so are Seki Tomokazu and Nakai Kazuya.

    Oh, it’s fine really. There’s a specific “Married seiyuu” thread on 2ch, and that’s where I got that particular piece of info. Since they don’t cite their sources I can’t tell you how accurate that may be, but it seemed to be a rather established fact :).

Though this bit of info obviously slipped through the cracks,according to this source,Kappei-sama definitely has at least a son if not other children.Though both his current marital status and the identity of the biological mother of his child(ren) are unknown,Kappei thankfully can’t be married to either of two josei seiyuu that voiced the worst characters to ever abuse a character that he voiced(HINT:Think Akane Tendou in Ranma ½ and Tita in Plastic Little.On the flip side,too bad he can’t be married to one of the other Ranma female cast members(i.e.,Hiromi Tsuru)…
